    removing shift knob?

i think the previous owner switched the shift knob in mine to a newer one. it has the (synthetic?) wood stock and the M logo on it.

problem is, it twirls around the shifter.

I want to keep it fixed. how do i remove and secure it? I don't see how...
    thanks

your gonna have to replace it, you can't fix that. It pulls up but be carefull not to hit yourself lol.

I got a custom made shift knob that just sits on there, i took some time, and electrical tape, wrapped it around the perfect amount of times, and now the shift knob is tight, secure and awesome.

it's weird, it just pops off vertically... but you may want to open the sunroof and stand up, lifting with your knees so you don't put an eye out.

i tried pulling on it a little, but nothing happened.

how do they usually go on? do they twist on?
or do they screw on somehow?
