    DIY Cleaning your carpet...

This weekend I had a chance to spend a few hours with my e30 and decided the next thing to clean out was the carpet and mats. I bought this car used and that was one of the things that killed me when I bought it. The matts had numerous stains and the carpet had mass amounts of dog hair and various other nasty treats...neeless to say, that shit had to go. Sooooo on with the DIY carpet cleaning.

    Stuff you will need...

After reading many other DIY's on the net I figured this was a proper setup:

-Shop vacuum, or a vacuum that has enough power to pull out deep stains-

-Spray on carpet cleaner, "oxy clean" or Folex, I just used some spray on capret cleaner from Kragen. It said it removed blood, and all types of crap so I figured it was good enough lol

    clean rags

sunny day- and strong carpet cleaning muscles, don't try it if your to weak, lol.

    1. pull out seats, unplug the heated seats if you have them...
    2. vacuum the interior very good
    3. spray the cleaner on the entire carpet area and focus spray on heavy stains
    4. let it sit for a few moments, soak in and do its thing
    5. take a brush with hot soapy water and scrub the hard stain areas, I just scrubbed the entire carpet.
    6. I suggest doing this in sections if you are under direct sun light like me. I was worried that the cleaner would bake on and leave stains.
    7. I then took a damp clean cloth and wiped up as much surface dirt
    8. Followed by vacuuming, be sure to get every section and area, this is the part where you will see mass improvement so do it right!!! I revaccumed three times in each section, and washed the mats two times and vacuumed three.

    Here are some awesome pics!!!!

I did my seats leather as well...

thought it looked weird with out the seats...

and there you have it. Its a 2-3 hour job but damn is it worth it. Do it right and take your time, remove the seats and do it right the first time.

    Ash-

Disclaimer, I hold no responsibility if you don't know how to clean your carpet right and cant read directions. :P

Added a few goodies, manual trans, leather ///M stitched e-brake and shifter, E46 floor mats from stealer, pedals, knob and e-brake handle, as well as the SWISS cupholder. Oh and a carpet shampoo a few days ago.

i went a little overboard with mine and actually took the whole carpet out of the car and scrubbed the hell out of it with sponges+brushes+soap. then pressure washed it, shop vac'd, sun dried and put it back in...

Yea so you found me out. Took out of the same car my engine came from. did a little cutting grinding and glueing to get it like it is now. Fit isn't Jordan perfect, but other BMW people comment "when did BMW put cupholders in E30's?" Of course the non bmw peeps can't tell.
