e36 window switches once and for all!

OK, so I have read many threads on the mod and havent quite understood all of the differences in the switches(base colors etc.), but here is what my problems are.

    1. The switches must be lighted.(of course)
    2. I have a 4 door and dont see how the switches will fit, my e30 ones barely do already? Do I need a console from a non-electric e30 and make the holes?
    3. I do want to have the one touch feature, but only for the front 2 windows, what company makes the best module for this and where would it fit?

Sorry in advance if this has been addressed before but I did search and could not come up with sufficient data with my particular needs.

Is anyone else dealt with my particular 4-door issue and have a remedy? Thanks in advance.

    1. I am pretty sure all the switches are lighted, just some with burnt bulbs.
    2. Yes, you will have to use either a two door console or one with no power windows.
    3. Don't know.

If all you want is one touch front windows, pelican parts sells a module that plugs in and give you one touch windows.

you need the large base switches with the wires coming out horizontally from the bottom, whereas the small base switches have the wires coming out vertically. on the 4door early e36's, ALL the switches are large base, and you need to cut your current console large to fit the new switches, HOWEVER you can still use your current console, just cut larger up on the top switches, and down on the bottom ones. with the trim pieces on the switches, they will fit just rite, OR you can get the 4 door e36 trim pieces, and cut out the middle part of your e30 console between the switches, as the e36 4 door has one large trim piece for each side for the 2 switches to sit in.

ahh, i never thought of the one piece thing before. Have you done this on a 4-door? Do you have any pics of it? Would 1 touch work with the large base switches? Thanks again.

My vert with the e36 switches. I started with a new center console with no cut outs. This allowed me to properly space the switches and relocate the circuit breaker for a cleaner install.
