can someone tell me where this goes?

It fell out from behind my hvac panel a while back. Now I have the whole panel removed and cant tell where it goes. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hmmm. I wasnt even aware there was a "shelf" in there. The other side of that thing had some old foam on it. heres what it looks like in there now if that helps. Thanks.

ahhh, I see. So I guess it just slides in the slots there, kind of clips in i guess? Is that meant just for a oem head unit, or should it be in there regardless? Thanks for the pics.

damn i have the exact same piece with foam and had no idea where it came from. crap i just installed my new headunit, i am interested in its purpose, i hope i dont need to rip the new unit out and put that in.
