    instrument cluster overhaul

So I want to take out my cluster and put n some brushed aluminum rings around the guages and use a poishing compund on the plastic to get rid of scratches and such. What eles would be good to do whild i have it apart, i.e. battery bulbs? Is there a write up on this? I couldnt find one. I also have a tach needle that sticks sometiems untill I Fonzie on the dash and it springs into action. Let me know what you think I should do while have it out now, as I dont want to have to dig into my interior for years to come. Thanks.

Replace all bulbs, clean all electrical connections, inspect / check the SI board batteries, reflow solder if needed on the main board where it connects to the back left/right multi-pin connectors (mine had multiple bad solder joints here and caused the temp gauge to jump around, and it wasn't a fauly gauge as I found out after replacing it). Make sure the connections for the fuel and temp gauge are clean and tight, don't miss the washers.

As usual you were most helpful. BTW where did you get your rings?
