    Saggy Hardtop Headliner

Well I got my hardtop a couple of days ago and I absolutely love it. I don't love the saggy headliner however. In a perfect world I would have it completely redone in black but for the time being are there any tricks? I was thinking about removing the handles (on the hardtop) and spraying adhesive through the holes. I could take a squeegee and smooth it out from edge to edge. Has anyone done this? Is it even possible? It doesn't have to be show car perfect, I'm just tired of watching it flap in my mirror. Thanks,

    Ryan

I cut a thin strip of cardboard, tucked it into the overhead console and then tucked the headliner between the cardboard and overhead console. It still sags in the middle but its a little better.

I just finished a new headliner for my cabrio hardtop. The attached photo is what the finished product looks like. It took me about 5 hrs from start to finish and about $30 in materials. The material is auto carpet from Wal-Mart that can be had in gray or black. You can get it other colors at your local AutoZone, but Wal-Mart was cheaper. If there is any interest I could do a quick write up with more pictures.

That would be appreciated. Maybe get it put up in the DIY section too. I need to redo mine.

Sorry it took so long to reply. I've been busy with my move to Oahu. To answer a few questions: The panels all stayed in place. I tucked the carpet under in the front and on the sides and used a razor blade to cut it close to the panels. When it was finished you can't see a gap. The carpet is also pretty light. You could use deep shag for all it matters. The glue will just have to be strong enough.
By the way I finished a little write up in MS Word, but this site does not allow you to attach it. I could save it in HTML or .pdf but it only allows pic attachments. If anybody knows how to attach it please let me know. Otherwise just PM me and I'll email it to you.
