How to install a dome light above the check lights on the E30?

    Hi,

Does anyone know how to install a dome light above the check console in a E30?

    1) wiring schematics/ suggestions of where to take the power source.
    2) what's the name of the socket item in which i'm going to put the dome light into.
    3) what's the name of the bracket that i'll need for the dome light to be put in place?

    Thanks!

Where exactly are you going to put it? Do you have manual sunroof or power sunroof? I've never seen it done before, but you could probably do it

Go cruise the junkyards looking for a low profile "surface mount" domelight.

When you find it, I can help you wire it. Remember that the wires are already at the domelights, so you should not have to run far.

Keep in mind that lots of factory domelights ground through the mounting screws, so only expect 2 wires coming off of it, but 3 makes it easier.

Try to not use something from Ford, as their system is (mostly) "positive trigger" which is different from most any other manufacturer.

If you are looking for more interior light just go to www.bavauto.com and look at the lighting section and order the 24 led panels for your interior lights. I installed these last week and ordered 2, which ended up being enough to do my two trunk lights and both overhead interior lights. They come with everything needed to install and is simple to do. You just choose the correct bulb adapter and plug in one bulb panel into it and place in the socket of the light fixture like you would with a regular glass bulb.

These LED panels are VERY BRIGHT !!!!! And put off a very white light !! Highly recommend doing this if dim interior lights are driving you crazy not seeing anything inside.

Maplight mirrors suck ass in the whole "lighting up the insides of the car" scheme.

Jeff, if you were as old and grizzled as I, you would want better lighting too.

But with me, it is going to come in the form of cheezy ass neon tubes. It goes so well with the wheels...
