    A new view

Tonight I finished installing a part in my car that I've been searching for for over 4 years. Finally about a month ago, I got a hold of one:

Big deal, right? Maybe not to some, but I just always thought that little ///M stuck in between the gauges looked cool. But up until now, the only way I could ever find one was attached to the front of an entire M3 cluster, to the tune of $250-300. Fuck that. So when this one came up for dirt cheap, I had to jump on it.

A few weeks ago, I got my set of aluminum gauge rings, a little something I'd been going back and forth on getting for years, finally just said fuck it. For $18, if I don't like how they look, I'm not out much. Got those installed, and loved them:

So now all I had to do was swap all the guts over, and install it. Well, a few snags aside (several small differences in the shroud design that make direct swap of the SI board and other things a PAIN), it's installed, and I fucking LOVE IT. Here's a few shitty pics in the dark in my garage:

    Washed out by the flash:

In the dark, no flash. This thing looks BADASS at night:

Now I just need to do something about that tach only going to 5k...

Nope, there isn't a seperate part number for it. Have to buy the whole cluster.

Thats what it was looking like from the other thread when you were searching for the #. I fell out of touch with that thread in the process.

Oh well that sucks to have to live with the faded bars like myself but at least its the real deal though...

Nope, that's Matt's (MR 325). But thanks for the compliments on the cluster.

Yeah, they look awesome both ways. I'll get a good shot of the whole thing in the daylight tomorrow, it won't be so washed out. I hate my camera.

                hahahaah, just kidding.

maybe a bit jealous. Thank god you don't have a 9K tach, then it would be bad, really bad.

Nicely done sir! I'm debating whether or not to swap chrome rings into my M3 cluster.

Here's a couple of daylight shots:

Overall, I'm very happy with it. I know some people are probably thinking "oh, it's not an ///M", and to be honest, I kind of thought the same thing at first. But I didn't do it to try and make myself think my car is an M3, it's just a looks thing for me. After all, there's an M on my steering wheel, too. I think the little M just looks cool, and the red needles and aluminum rings just add a little more flair, gives me something a little more interesting to look at.

Looking good  ... I feel the same about the haters, but I have the whole cluster and really like having a factory oil temp gauge more than the MPG gauge anyways. When I did mine several years ago, I used the chrome rings but that was all that was available at the time. After seeing yours I will probably change mine to the brushed finish.
