Your only chance of having decent aftermarket carpet is to find an early car (pre 86) and hijack the padding set for under the carpet. Any car later than that has built-in padding, firmly attached to the carpet. Putting carpet over carpet is bullshit, and will look like ass no matter how you slice it.

Here is the link where someone else here bought their carpet from www.stockinteriors.com and was very unhappy with the fitment/quality.

            Haha-
I find it funny how many of your general rules for e30s my car doesn't follow. It truly is a rebel without a cause.

This is one of them: my 89ix doesn't have padding attached to the carpet.

            But yeah.

If you wanted to bay about $850, worlduph has carpet sets that replace padding and all, with an exact oem fit. I'd never pay that, but it is available.

Dude, iXs just must not count.

I know of a certain '90 that has separate padding too, but I am the one who put it there!

Better a rebel without a cause than rebel without a clue.

I found a nice clean like new carpet at the j/yard from an 87, padding attached, my 85 has it separate. Endeup taking the padding off from my "new" carpet from the fire wall area only and now I have less road noise w/double padding, but it was a bitch to put the seats back on, but now it looks, feels better. Paid only $13.00 for it.You can see the difference crapy on the left nice to the right.

Do what Stereo says, or find a clean carpet from a late model and just peel the padding off and there You go light oem carpet.
