    Carpet dying

i just got my car back from being at the mechanic for a looong time and im about to go back to work on the carpets, but i dont think im ever gonna them completely clean so i think i am going to dye them after i clean them some more. anyone have any suggestions for dye i should use? my interior is grey.

I don't know about staying the same color, but I went from tan to grey and it looks like
    @#%*.

Maybe going to the same color will look alright. Go to Wal Mart and get "fabric and vinyl" die (it's in the automotive dept.)

    Hope this helps.

I used some of the spray dye to go from tan to black and it looks like ass. Probably the best way to dye it would be to take it out and use fabric dye thats not in a spray can.

yeah, don't use the spray dye. I tried this on the rear speaker decklid going from tan to tan and it looked like shit. Better to use the fabric dye.

I used a can of vinyl spray paint to bring my rear deck back to life.

I used vinyl paint because the rear deck material seems to be some type of plastic. Just try to find out what the carpet is made of and buy the appropriate paint or dye. A fabric dye might not work at all if it is designed for cotton fabric.

well i dont need to dye the carpets, my mom bought this carpet cleaner from wal mart it was Blue Magic Spot and Stain Remover i think. got it in the automotive section. it took most of the stains right out, there is still a very slight discoloration of the carpets, i think just from the chemical reaction from the coke or something being in there so long. but it worked amazing, i was very pleased. just like it said on the can "works where others fail" :D

SEM makes a spray can paint for vinyl and leather, and my dad being a professional custom upholster uses it all the time. I dont think its good for carpet. I'll ask him for you what to use. He'll probably say just get new carpet because like everyones said the dye doesnt come out soo good. I would just Clean it really good and use some kind of carpet shampoo over and over.
