Fixing Cracks in Vinyl Sport Seats

I tried searching to not much avail.

I have two long cracks along the bolsters of my vinyl sport seats. About 4" and 6" inches long, and no more than 1/4" wide. Perhaps a burly person owned the car for a long time before my ownership.

I was aware leatherique was popular with the E36 community, but does it work for vinyl? I don't mind purchasing it, if it comes out alright, unless anyone else has good experience with dealing with vinyl cracks.

So to clarify, I don't want a cleaner product as much as I need a repair kit.

Nah, just get a vinyl patch kit.

It comes with this goop you slather onto the ripped area. You then place a texturing paper over the ripped area and heat it up using something resembling a soldering iron with a flat disc attached to it. You then peel the texturing paper back, and voila, you have a patched seat.

I think Auto Zone carries this. Eastwood also has a similar product.

I have a kit (made by Permatex I believe) that I got at Pep Boys that I plan to use for the very same purpose. I can't really help with how well it works though, as I haven't gotten around to trying it yet.

the leatherique kit is more for filling small cracks it would not be good for a large split like that...
