    Air vents falling down?

My center console air vents won't stay the hell up.

Anytime i position them right in the middle where they would sit perfectly blowing on my face, they just fall down, i can either put them all the wya up, or all the way down, nothing in between.

Tell me there's a quick/easy fix for this?

Quick Fix?... Stick a tootpick or a piece of paper between the vent and the dash. :D

i was thinking of getting some black string and putting it around the 'left to right' adjustors, and then electrical taping them to the top of the dash in a certain position

          kind of tacky though.

Damn, if you're going to go through all that, just give in and buy new vents or at least go to a junk yard and get used ones, don't booger up your dash.

do i have to take out the whole dash to replace them? or do they pop out in some fashion.

                Check it: http://lukasbmw.com/new_page_16.htm

I'll do this in the red car eventually.

They should snap out, I can try in my parts car if you want.

i took mine out....put a bit of glue on the plastic bits where the little plastic rod goes into....creates more friction, and they stay in place over bumps...heaven!

i had the same problem, in my 90' i, what i did is I went to the junkyard, found a pair the odnt fall down like that, and put them in my car, they come out VERY easily, just stick a thin flathead screwdriver on the side and pry it out, they pop in in out, but you have to rotate down once it is sorta pried out. you'll figure it out, it's really easy, but dont do the velcro crap, go pay $4 and get a pair from the junkyard and do it right

Why go buy more that are just going to wear out in the future? You can't see the velcro and it'll keep them from falling forever.

yea.. if its a common problem, then what good would new ones do me. LOL.

the only bmw wrecking yard i know of around here would cost me 4$ in gas to get to, and another 20$ for the parts probably
