    Interior paint

I'm looking to paint the inside handles and things on the door panel black. What kind of paint do I need? Thanks

Buy ones that are already made of black plastic/vinyl.

Heh, never thought of that. Does anyone sell them new? I thought Bav Auto would but I can't find them, and all I see on ebay is just a handle without the compartment thing on the bottom.

Well even from BavAuto, you'll have to buy the map pocket separately.

Yeah I figured, but I can't find it on their site. Do they have it and i'm just not seeing it? I looked through the whole interior section.

I bought some Vinyl dye for just my arm rests/map pockets. It turned out great, and looks factory (as long as you get a satin black). They look newer, only because they're not faded.

Look at the local auto parts place, they should have some.

A lot of E36 guys did the same to their whole interior, I'm not sure I'm willing to do that, but yeah, you do save a lot of money. I was looking to get the black armrests/map pockets for like 40, this costed 6 bucks. Hasn't peeled in a month, so I'm not too worried about it looking like crap. I've scratched, picked, and messed with it too, still looks fine!

Yeah that looks good, and I don't like how the map pockets are a darker shade than the handles. I'm also thinking of getting black seat bolsters too cause mine are worn, but i'm still not sure on that.

Number 1 reason I painted mine. I think the black mappockets/arm rests give the interior a sportier look too. I've got some black/tan dot cocomats coming this week too, so those should compliment the rest of my two tone interior. :D

do you think a vinyl/leather dye could be used on the old faded lookign steering wheel?

Yes, as long as you know it's vinyl, it should work fine. My armrests/mappockets were all scuffed and nasty. Look great now!
It'll peel off on things that aren't vinyl. I'm sure it's the same with a leather dye.

Is the dye in a can? Cause I went the the autoparts store and they had Duplicolor Vinyl paint. They had 'flat black' and 'black vinyl' but all the caps were busted on the black vinyl so I didn't get any.

That's what I got. I think mine was Satin Black or maybe Black Vinyl, but I stayed away from Flat Black.
