    Ultimate Fail

so i was taking my seats out to install new seat belts and clean the carpet when i decided to place the nuts on top of the dash

i decided to back the car up a bit to make some space in the garage when 4 out of the 6 nuts decided to roll their way down the defroster vents

then i tried to use a long screw drive to probe them out but then the bit fell down as well...

HOW THE HELL DO I GET THEM OUT....this rattling is driving me nuts!

You need a magnet on a stick thing. Or a magnet on a cord/rope/string. I have one that is like an antenna that extends and has a magnet on the tip. My brother has a nicer version of the same.

or remove your dash. Which vent did it go in? Did it fall deeper?

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

or you could use that great sucking power you have and suck them right out of there!
      just kidding
this has happened to everyone at some point. the magnet on a stick/string is the way to go. there are even companies that sell mechanics gloves with magnets built into one of the finger tips so you can pick stuff up out of hard to reach places in the engine bay, or put on that annoying little nut or washer that you just cant get your fingers around.

Add another point for the magnet-on-a-stick. These things are fucking wonderful, I have one in with my telecom tools for work, too.

And they're like a buck at Harbor Freight.
