    phantom leak in cabin

I have searched and searched but I cannot find the leak. When I wash my car or it rains heavily, I notice the passenger side floor is very damp. I can't see any sort of trail of water where it could be coming from. No leaks in the sunroof or doors. My windshield seal looks great. I am wondering if my heater core has gone bad. It doesn't seem like coolant though. I am trying to figure it out before it gets moldy. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Sunroof runoffs might be clogged?

Did you check the elephant-trunk looking drain hose that's on the passenger-side firewall? It's about 3-4" long. Twist it off and see if it's clogged. If you pour some water right in front of the windshield, right into the black grills, the water should be draining out that hose in the engine compartment.

My floor used to get wet too until I pulled that hose out and unclogged it. It was full of dirt and pieces of leaf.

if the elephant drain is clean then it may be leaking around the blower motor housing.

hmmm ok so this elephant drain hose, is it near the front of the center console by the heater core on the passenger side? Or is it against the speaker kick panel? My first test was to pour water down the front grille under the windshield on the passenger side. All the water came streaming out behind the fender well. None of the water pooled in the cabin....... if that helps.

The elephant hose is in the engine bay, coming off the firewall. Did you check the sunroof drains? When you pour water onto the sunroof channels, it should drain out near the pinch weld right below the doors. The sunroof also has some drains behind the rear bumper, if you have a later model (I think, I do on my '88 ).

The HVAC unit also has a couple of drains, one on each side of the transmission tunnel, just below the foot well air vent. Look here:

The little rubber hose drains out below the floor pan.

I'm not sure how you would be getting water in there though.

hmm I am gunna have to check the firewall hose. I also poured water in the sunroof channels and nothing drained into the cabin. I guess the elephant hose is the next thing to check.

im pretty sure i just found mine. it was the front sunroof drain. there are holes under the car in the body seam that where clogged with under coating. simple test, get a bottle with a pointed nosell and pour water into each hole and it should come out under the doors.
