    Airbag SRS Removal

This is my first post on R3VLimited. I have a 1990 325is that I am replacing my cracked dash on. I am looking for the procedures to remove my airbag without is blowing up in my face so I can finish remove steering wheel. I searched in this forum did not find anything that showed the removal procedure for an E30. Thanks for any help you guys can give.

disconnect your battery at the negative (in the trunk to the right).
behind the actual airbag wheel (3 and 9 oclock) there are two little holes on the sides.
There are two torx style bolts that hold the airbag in place. loosen the two of them.
Once the bag is loose, there is a little orange plug at the back of the bag. twist it counter clockwise and your bag is off.

Use a 22mm socket with an extension and loosen the nut (pull the key out of the ignition to lock the wheel in place to make it easier to remove).
Once the nut is off, put the key back in, and turn it to the 2nd position. Under the steering column, there is a little rectangular panel. Behind that panel there is an orange connector. Disconnect this. The wheel will be able to be removed now. Make sure to mark the post and the wheel so you know where it goes when you put it back.

      Hope this helps.

while you replace your dash, if you are going to delete your airbag wheel, I would suggest you pull out all your airbag module, etc from underneath the dash. It will be bright orange, you cant miss it.

I don't remember actually but I think E30_fiend is in the ballpark. They are somewhat large torx screws...
