what year did they start making the rear windows a zip in? is there anyway i can retrofit one to mine? 02/91'

my rear window tore in two parts, and i need it replaced, the top is in otherwise - decent condition.

Regarding a hard top, is there a specific one i need to look for?

I am not sure about the zippered windows, but I am pretty sure there is only one type of hardtop. It has handles in the front that lock in like your softtop and big pins that fit in holes in the back. The pins in the back are setup to power your glass defroster. If it gets cold in your area, a hardtop is one of the best investments you can make. I love mine.

Tips for buying. Make sure it does not have soft spots on the outside. You may not see them, so feel for them. A good headliner would be nice. I am changing mine out now and it is a pain. Check the seal and make sure it looks good. The defrost setup is nice and they are pretty notorious for not working.

You can't retrofit a zippered window onto your existing sewn-in top. You can replace the clear vinyl by sewing a new one in though. I've done it and its a bitch to do and imho not worth the effort. crap. here's to finding a nice hardtop in decent condition......colorado winters are nice with clear duct tape keepin the snow out...
