    keep factory seats or no?

So I really like the look of my factory tan leather seats but I feel like I am driving a truck they sit so high. Is their anyway to significantly lower them? maybe a new mount.

I also want to run something like schroth quick fit harness but I cant find one that says it works with a four door, I am willing to install a harness bar if needed.

My goal is to have a classy looking set up that isnt a full out race car, I really like my seats they hold me way better than the "sport" seats in my mini.

The handle on the side of the seat can lower them. Try pushing down on it (Right?).

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

I don't think my seats have that, I have a lever on the e brake side that does the recline and a handle that sides it forward and back, but Im going to go double check

do you have sport or comfort seats. your soon going to find that the classy yet track car compromise doesn't work so well..

^^ Im guessing I have comfort since there is no side bolster at all.
I know the classy look isn't 100% function but I'm trying. I just looked under my factory seats and their isnt to much room there but if I took the sliders out and put the seats right to the floor it will go lower but that might get annoying.

I also feel that race seats look ridiculous unless you have a built car

what's a built car? agree that race seats just look fuh raze in a dd. that's kind of my point. the compromise car doesn't work past a point.

                built car=race car/track car

i might just mess around with this, i really have a hard time paying for race seats at least before I do my engine.

how much lower on average does a racing seat sit than the factory comfort seat?

looking at my seat rails if I took out the slider I could only go down 2inchs

Just get some sport seats, it should solve your problem, and keep the look you want.

It's really easy, buy a set of seats to swap out for track/auto-x. Then since they will see limited use you can buy fixed back seats were are cheaper and generally lighter. And then be able to switch back to the normal seats for DD use.

+1, sport seats, just try them out before you buy them, they're a bit narrow, but should fit anyone under ~200lbs pretty well, I haven't been in a mini, so I can't compare.

Comfort seats raise and lower also. Just push down on the handle that reclines the seat back.

So it rained today so i decided to attempt something. I got some angle iron and made real simple mounts for the seats, just an 18in peice with four holes on each, two for the seat and two for the mounts to the floor.

you can see how much lower the seats got. the pic is a little deceiving becasue the seat on the left looks flatter but once its in the car that isn't noticeable. I am really happy with the way it came out I sit noticable lower now. My only problem is it is slightly slanted becasue i was working on a hill, simple fix for another day.

I also installed my CG lock on my seat belt so that with the lower seat my car feels a lot more sporty.

Won't fixed back race seats put you into a higher class in auto-x?
