    Carpet removal Question

So I am trying to remove the carpet from my e30 (90 325is if it matters). I have all the obvious stuff out, seats, center console, kick panels doors trim and for some reason I still can't get the carpet out. It seems to me when I try and pull it out that it is stuck in the drivers footwell up by the pedals but I don't know where?

Anyone want to share there methods for removing the carpet?

Matt, I had a hell of a time the first time I pulled E30 carpet (and I have pulled about 50 carpets in my life).

Here is what I did: First, as you have, pull the fuel pedal, all the trim panels, seats, blah blah blah...then, I cut carefully around the heater core, right up close to it, so the cuts would be obviously under the console.

Working front to back, I carefully lifted that shit out.

Major cussing and bitching seemed to help, YMMV.

    Luke

lol, yeah - I just removed my carpet recently. You will be able to figure the pass side easily. driver side is slightly trickier because of pedals - it is removable though take a closer look you will find a screw holding it in place behind brake pedal if i remember correctly. Your biggest challenge will be if you require the carpet to be in re-installable condition.

I didn't need to reinstall mine, so I cut around heater core then got pliers later and pulled the square out.. it's really wedged under there.

just yank the pedal straight up, dont have to disconnect it from the linkage. Its just wedge down in a metal bracket. Then take the clutch bolt out and the gas bolt. Cut around the heater core like its been said. Then pull the passenger side first, its easier if you manually fold the carpet going up top down and then pull ito ut. Then go to the driver side. It takes some practice. I took my out like 6 times already, because I keep getting roof leaks during the rain on my convertible top.

You can slip the carpet over the gas pedal no removal needed. I know cuz I got ticked and just pulled the carpet right off. Cussing really does help.

Ya thanks for the help everyone carpets out. However I tried to remove the gas pedal using the "Just pull straight up" method and snapped the pedal off the base. I shoul know by now that just pull on it method never works as advertised.

Oh well off to the dealer tomorrow to buy a new pedal.

Dude just go to a salvage yard, I'm pretty sure you can find one with a gas pedal. I gave up on pulling mine for fear of tearing it in half.

Check with Blunt on that new pedal.

I use a tool called a "radiator hose removal tool" in the catalogs...called a "butthook" in the shops.

Salvage yards here are not like in California. I go every couple weeks and have not seen a single E30 in months.

I would check with Blunt but to buy just the one thing from him would end up being more expensive once I paid exchange and shipping. I get a pretty good deal at the dealer here anyway.
