S2 Euro ellipsoids in an early S1?

Hi, can the later S2 Euro ellipsoids with plastic bracket be retrofitted to the early S1? I have the S2 Euro electrical connector

I know s1 and s2 are generally euro nomenclature but if you mean prefacelift/postfacelift then, yes you can. I slapped ellipsoids on my '84 a long while ago. The plastic bracket bolts up the same but you'll need to rewire the connectors and possibly futz with the relay to retain having the "all 4 lights on while using highbeams"

simple answer: yes, it can be done, but due to the way the ellipsoid headlights are wired up, you will have to get creative, if you wish to have the low beams stay illuminated, at the same time that the high beams are activated.

i've done it lots of times without issue, but the H1/H4 setup looks best on an early car, to me, at least. i would just run those... but it's your car! do as you wish. :)
