    Left Parking lights wont work?!?

Hey guys, sorry for rambling but I just spent the best part of a beautiful Saturday frustrated with the lights on my Son's 87 convertible. The left parking lights don't work, I replaced the headlight switch and no difference I tried new bulbs. I've swapped back and forth one at a time from my 92 e30 and all bulbs work. Now I was checking voltage and the left parking light has (the good one) three connectors at the plug and get one positive and two negative leads, when I check on the left side of the car I get negative in all three leads?

    Any Ideas?

I'm going back and checking for more things but any ideas will be helpful.

And yes I have been reading old posts.

    Thank you.

When you say "2 wires do this and 3 wires do that" tells me you have NOT been taking notes.

Tell us WHICH wires do what, so we can offer decent advice.

A quick search will tell you that if you are checking ELECTRICAL stuff (not ELECTRONIC, you better know the difference) do NOT use a goddamn multimeter, use a testlight, or I will bitch at you until you comply OR until I stop offering help.

$5 at your local auto parts store. Don't waste your time with anything else.

Seriously, a testlight has just enough current demand that it will make a far more meaningful test than a DVM for 99% of the issues an E30 has.

Have you downloaded the electrical manual for your car? If you haven't, you have not been searching either...go to www.wedophones.com, click on "Manuals" then "Automotive" then "BMW" then copy that bitch to your hard drive.

It might be tough for you to learn the BMW schematics...but ask anyone who has learned how to diagnose an electrical issue, it works.
