how to smoke the headlights and rear lights?

my brother has a sti and what he did to smoke his lights are:
1.) he put the lights in the oven in a certain degree in order to break the seal of the cover from the light itself.
2.) then he spray painted the silver part of the lights

i was wondering if it's the same case as for the e30 lights....

    thanks

Here's the writeup for the headlights http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=94540

As for the tail lights. They made smoked tails (MHW and Startec) but they are getting hard to find and also somepeople don't want to spend the $$$ on them. So, people will spray the tails with a tinted clear or they use VHT nightshades and then put a automotive clear over that.
