HIDs turning purple?

The last few days my passengers side HID has been turning purple while the drivers side is still white. Has this happened to anyone before? Is my ballast dyeing or do i need to get new bulbs. When i first spark it the bulb is the same color as the other side but after a few seconds it turns pink then purple

Why do they change color when they are dying?

my guess is that its burning out. has your neighbor or worse mr.watson touched the actual bulb? my guess is that since you got them from mr.watson that he has put his greasy ass fingers all over em, now they are burning out because the oils and other grime off his fingers haved burned into the bulbs.

Hid bulbs color shift and get dimmer as they get older. Oem bulbs last a long time, cheap hid kit bulbs are hit or miss. I have seen quite a few cars lately with with factory equipped hids with dim purple bulbs. That is simply how hid bulbs age. Most seem to be acuras and saabs.
