Cheap Way To Smoke Your Turn Signals/Side Markers?

Is there any cheap way of doing this? I read on a previous thread that you can get lamin-x in a smoked film, does anyone have pictures of this or opinions on this? Also, are there any other ways with some sort of... coat of... spray or something haha?

Also with the suggested way of doing it, could you comment on the quality of lighting that still comes out of it? (Mainly for the turn signals) Pictures would be great.

    Thanks in advance.

I was going to do smoked turns, but decided against it. The Lamin-X method looks great and seems to be the best way to do it cheaply.

you can get yourself a translucent black tint spray. Chad, you can find it at any of the participating local rice shop (like at Metrotown etc). It turns out suprisingly nice.

I have plans of smoking my turn signals, but I'm afraid it would be too black in the front.

What I did was I went to Hobbytown USA and got some Tamiya (or whatever it's called) smoke model paint. I put this on my aftermarket turn signals which you can find on Ebay. They are normally clear, and have an advanced reflector, making them very bright. I added about 6-8 coats on the clear lenses, and then about two coats of spray clearcoat, and they worked out fine.
In the day, you can't really make out the sidemarkers, but when you indicate, they are bright enough to be seen. Of course, at night you can see them all the time (again, not too bright though).

they'll still look like rock-pitted/faded turn signals/sidemarkers that you painted.

those paints are pretty versatile. On mine I only did 2-3 coats, and it was always pretty bright.

                    LOL.

Thanks guys, maybe ill try this tint thing for the hell of it, but it might make it so the turn signal can barely be seen, which is no good... Maybe I'll do the smoked lamin-x idea, I'll have to see how things go, maybe I'll look into it this weekend.

When they are this cheap, it is not worth doing all of that painting crap! I have these from Abrahams and they look great.

When the lights are off you hardly even notice the car HAS turnsignals. They become part of the bumper.

I know what they look like.

If you just paint over rock-chipped signals, when you get up to them it will be obvious that you took the cheap way out.

Hell, even from a little back.

If he bought new signals and then smoked em...well thats just silly because Mike has them for cheaper than new lenses.
