Interior lights work in the ON position but not in DOOR position

As the title says i have a problem with my 86 eta where the interior lights work in the ON position but do not come on in the DOOR position when i open any of the four doors. I have never had a problem like this so im not too familiar with the electronics although im aware of the door buttons. What could i check or replace to resolve this? Thanks guys

Sounds to me like the issue is at the door switch(s).

The buttons on the door jams? Is it likely that all four quit though?

It's not uncommon for these switches to develop corrosion over time. Only takes a Phillips screwdriver to pull out, clean up the back side of them with some emery cloth or sandpaper and see if that helps!

make sure actual light switch is in the proper position. then pull door switches and do as listed above.

Easier than that: pull the switch, remove the wire and ground the wire. If you get light, the switch is bad....clean it.

                Otherwise, post your findings.

So i checked them all and somehow every one was bad. The tubing around the switch area is cracked. I will probably just replace them. Thanks for the help guys.

Alright so i replaced all of the door jam buttons and all of them work but the drivers door. Instead of turning on the lights it just makes some sort of clicking sound. Like some sort of relay is being activated. So that means the button works right? Any E30 electrical gurus with some insight?
