I think we need to do some impartial research here folks. I remember way back when when European car was VW&Porsche mag. Anyhow at that time they weren't driven by ad revenue, they did some headlight comparisons.

Is there a place i can add dedicated driving lights? I thought about using the holes where the fogs are but isnt that kinda low for a driving light, even if i point it up? I think ill stay with the Euro Elipps. and add some crazy driving lights. But where

Not the US ellips. To say that is to say Euro ellips suck too.Originally posted by Robjust for the record, stock US headlights suck..........
We got a little creative and took a mold of the inner lens on the us ellips, let it dry, and then stuck it inside a euro ellips inner lens. I had a big pile of the parts laying around awhile back.
Fit perfectly. Like i said, the only difference is the city light, the smiley and the cutoff. And that cutoff does not help road illumination, only lights up signs a bit better.
Franz,
You can't tell me that your CSRs lit up the road more evenly than the 540... Regardless of what bulb is in there, the lenses are what determines how even light is projected. When i had CSRs, they were more pencil driving lights.
I swapped from those cuz i wanted to see more than just 2 miles down the road. I also wanted to see all of the road plus the other side of the road and the sides of the road.Nick

I used the Euro elips for almost all my cars, matter of fact I had a pair
that I was selling, but they just sold pending payment. Wonderful lights.
I tried to use CSR's once but ended up trashing(selling) them for another
pair of elips. Right now I'm running clear elips(HELLA) in all my cars, but
am getting smoked elips for my 86 (Hear that Nico? Hurry up! jk)
I would stick with Euro elips, they just cast and displace light better. The
CSR's are seriously like a 'Beam' of light, no displacement at all.「 Terror from the Rising Sun 」Comment

It may be more that the Xenons were so much brighter than the highs on the e39 that I thought the highs were useless. Also, with the Cibie's the low beam helps a lot, I was wondering the same as you though, I thought my regular Cibie's were better on high, but it's hard to compare since there were 4 of them @100w each and now I just have 2.Originally posted by Inspar8rNot the US ellips. Alright that settles it....
We're going to go out to the Airport and stealing you some Landing lights......
Don't laugh, I guess my uncle put landing lights on his old 240z....
Yeah from what I heard he was arrested and fined.
but Hey! You could see from Seattle to Jersey, who cares?「 Terror from the Rising Sun 」Comment

If you could fit them in your high socket i think itll be just fine, you dont use highs when anyones around anyway so whats the problem.

Why would modes of transportation especially like trains and airplanes who need bright lights not use xenon?
It is clearly the brightest and most appealing light (more like daylight), why would they not swap over?Nick
