      Has anyone done this?

I have the back of one of the lights nearly fully cut off, edges need cleaning up.

There's another reflector thing behind the plastic of the lights (I think where the brake light is). Anyone know do you tint this also or just the outside part of the lights?

I think there is sufficient info in this thread to recreate one of these. I might try it, if I do ill be sure to take lots of pictures. Now to see if I have two unbroken lens-backs. I do have a set of brand new hella lenses from Levent that will supply the lens'...

I dug my old lights out and got to work already actually...

Old nasty POs version of all reds, fading and a new set of hellas

Oops, careful with breaking through this one! On the second light I hit this lens too hard and went through both. I have one more late tail ill try to get that lens out of, otherwise probably figure out a replacement with that lighting fixture cover stuff...ehh

                Where they sit now.

Good Luck trying to peel just the lens off. Thats where I had my trouble and it forced me to give up.

I spent two hours each with the dremel carbide bit scraping away the lens material from the back until I was scuffing the plastic. Failure to remove the lenses themselves from the new lights is not an option, they are brand new! Lens plasic is much more brittle, so ill be mostly cutting away the back instead of trying to pop it off.

First rule is Go SLOOOW AND BE CAREFUL!! the lens will not flex a bit and is really easy to crack without the black housing plastic. Do NOT attempt to peel the lens off, or (even small parts of) the black plastic off. Shave it off and just stop when you reach colored plastic.
The one crack I made by peeling off a "loose" piece of black plastic, our so I thought. Just acceptable.

Maybe pic whoring it a little, but break time! It is certainly possible. Some more black plastic cut away...

Driver side tail lens is free of all black back plastic, and fits liiike a glove as it should. Despite the learning and little hairline crack and a few little scrapes, it came out well. Ill most likely sand off the markings (except DOT) and polish them with my plexus stuff so they will all go away.

Ill be done cleaning up the pass side lens tonight, but here is where I am on that one so far. It's a very tedious process, don't rush it.

                                Got it...

My plan as I see it now is paint the inside of the lens lightly with vht nite shades, recoat at least the blinker reflectors in silver or chrome paint (bc one side is messed up), and the spots on either side of the reverse light are getting blacked out on the reflector (not used).
