HID situation is getting crazy

I bought a pair for my last car and will soon put them on this one. The overall drivablity of the lights made it a worthwhile purchase.

I'd like to clarify that the HIDs on the audi look way better in person than they do on the picture posted earlier on this thread. First because the picture was taken with a point&shoot so its really not as accurate of a representation of the true light output and/or glare that the photo shows. But I will admit that because those projectors were made to house halogen bulbs the cutoff with the HIDs was pretty bad, although not blinding (I mightve been high-beamed a couple times but that's it). Having said that, the picture was posted to show the difference in light output between the 55w ddm kit and the 35w ddm kit (which the picture shows very well) and you can clearly see the light output on the ground in front of the audi is brighter and noticiably whiter than the mz3's...

But yeah the ddm kits are the shit! I just bought another set, my only complaint is that its been now 10 days and my order is still "processing"; I'm about to call and bitch at them! But you certainly can't beat $30 with a lifetime warranty :)

Are you running HID's in your highs?

Yes. Lows, Highs, Fogs. :) When they cost the same as a pair of incandescent bulbs, why not?

i like the slim ballasts. i have my slim kit tied onto the back of the headlight bucket with zip ties, which takes up no additional room in the engine bay and doesnt effect the plastic shield behind the headlights.

So what seems like the better kit for our cars? Slim ballast or apexcone? I don't want to hack up my euro ellips to make them work. I've never had HID's but would like to try them.

Most people don't run HIDs in the highs because the bulb takes about 5 seconds to get to full brightness. It can be troublesome if you have to turn your highs on and off often.

nah. the HIDs take awhile to warm up the first time you turn them on, after that, the time it takes for a car to pass you by on the highway is short enough that when you fire them back up they are still at full brightness. you just cant do the quick flash.

No reason it wouldn't work. More a matter of A. not needing the highs with 55w HID lows and B. incapable of "flashing" other drivers with the brights.

i run 55w lows, 35w highs now (switched them) LOTS of light, and I can just flash my lows on the rare occasion that I need to flash.
