    Wires for elipsoid conversion?

Converting from sealed beam to elipsoids..
(i have most of the plug housings already)

When I order the wires - should i be ordering "0,5-1,0 MM²" wires or "1,0-2,5 MM²" wires?.

I did some researching and can't seem to determine difference and/or which ones are best-suited for headlights.

    Thanks for any help.

Are you converting to US Ellips or Euro Smileys? They use different pigtails and wires.

I used the thicker gauge wire for my Euro retrofit. Also I used diodes instead of re-wiring the fusebox.

While i've seen different articles on doing the conversion - don't recall seeing any one single place that provided all specific part numbers..

site i was using for guidance

Japandrew post which indicates (per part#) use of the 0,5-1,0 MM² wires

Some of the hardware i've purchased so far

Part #s for high & low beam plug housings:
          2) 61131378417 Plug housing, white
          2) 61131378419 Plug housing, yellow

Part # for city light plug housing(s):
          2) 61131378401 Plug housing

The wires I initally purchased were "0,5-1,0 MM²". I didn't know if that notation designated wire thickness or a different style of connector. Now that I look at them, the wires themselves look thin - like 22 gauge thin. Thinner than i'd like to use for headlights.

I am going to guess that the "1,0-2,5 MM²" wire itself is more like 12-14 gauge - and the connectors are the same.

If that is true, then the (1,0-2,5 MM²) I'll want to order are
High & low beam "L-shaped" wires:
          8 ) 61130007446

          City light / "straight-end" wires:
          4) 61130007442

I'm doing a similar conversion (sorry not trying to thread jack)

I bought euro ellipsoids non smiley just the low beams. Want to convert just my low beams to HIDs I already have the H1 HID kit.

My issue is I already have Cibie headlights by Daniel Stern lighting installed in my car so the wiring is a little different than stock sealed beams, although the Cibie light use H1 bulbs. Wondering i someone could give me some help to the Euro light conversion and put in my HID kit with it.

I would suggest using the thinner gauge for the city lights, they are 5w I believe. Maybe you could use the other thin wires for the ground side? Yes the mm# is the gauge thickness and has no bearing on the plug size.
After you wire these you will need to decide what you want to do about the HI/LOW switching problem coming from sealed beams as well.

This is the parts list I used.

              Plug Housing
              61131378418 (x2)

              Plug Terminal Yellow
              61131378419 (x2)

              Plug terminal white
              61131378417 (x2)

              Circular Connector 1,0-2,5 MM²
              61130007446 (x12)
