I have done a couple like this so far and am happy with the results. However, there are a couple things to take note of.
Depending on resistor values / leds you may get a non dimmable (or only slightly dimming obc). The first one I did was quite bright. I added a larger resistor to the second and it mellowed down quite a bit.
