      I used candy apple as well.

      I don't how you guys painted yours, but when I did mine, I just painted red the amber section. Then I clear coated the whole thing and turned out great - looks consistent with no seams.

          I used Candy Apple and Clear just on the amber section. I think I may redo it with the all clear method the next time around.
