Does anyone have a pic of the brake light curcuit that is suppossedly by the antana in the trunk. I have a 88 cabrio and I cant find it a re they not located here on my car. I need to fix my check panel issue.
after all the post I've read on this subject how did I know it would be you to reply.... Thanks I believe I found someone who says it's under the rear driver side trim panel in the interior I'll find out when I get home. your posts have answered most my questions already and will probly answer many more you the man
Yes I did download the manual but wife has been in the hospital and that means I'm full time daddy day care for a while. If cleanong it up and re attatching everything doesn't solve the issue I'm not sure but it looks as though I can bypass this all together can anyone confirm this. May be another week before I can get to it.
orthroscopic surgery for athletic no danger she's just layed up for a couple weeks. Brake lights and all other lights work just fine. Just tired of the check panel always being lit and the flashing check in the dash staying on.

Hmmm, can this be a bad contact issue in the brake light socket? bad grounds some times do this 'false negative' thing, where the CP says the light failed, but it works. It only has to fail for a millisecond to set off the panel.
Isn't there a way to cancel the flashing 'Check' with a button? Don't know E30s as well as I do my E28.
Here's a quick and easy way to verify brake lights working- back up to a store front with glass windows, look in your rear view, then step on the brake pedal. Glass window acts as a mirror for verification. Just one way to confirm the flashing 'check' is bogus.
What year is your car? it looks to me like the late version tails were more reliable as to ground contacts.

88 cabby it has the early model tails I have completely taken apart the backing panels sanded scuffed and cleaned all the contacts including the ground underneath the light bar and replaced all the bulbs the button does turn off the flashing check light but a mile or so down the road it will start flashing again with no other panel lights coming on I haven't tore out the back seat yet to check the curcuit but that's planned for saturday I'm all over it then
Finally tore it up and found the bastard it is behinde the driver side rear seat panel in the cabby mine was half way unplugged and it was the issue
and here is where the bastard hides
Congrats, and let me know if you want to double or triple their output!
(standard wattage bulbs, just more of them)
