    Lense removal - what to do if baking doesn't work?

    Tried multiple times getting the lenses off my euro high beams with no luck. I blame it on the metal housings and ridiculous glue. Low beams were easy since the plastic can flex.

    I have baked them for 10 minutes on up to 1.5 hours @300 degrees. The glue just doesn't soften enough! If the housing would flex enough I could slip something under to cut away at the glue like I did on the low beams.

    Any ideas? Really don't want to break them.

      Try a heat gun but BE CAREFUL, it will melt the plastic just like the oven will.

      You could also try a little more heat in the oven, but again, BE CAREFUL and keep a very close eye on them.

        Plastic housings done. ;)

        It's the metal housing high beams that are kickin my ass!

          ahh...

          It is a Mofo... i baked mine..... several times... about 10 min increments.. careful with a flat screwdriver.. cut the glue with an x-atco knife repeat this process several times use old baking mittens, cause the metal is HOT!

          i dont remeber the temp i used.... but the plastics were still hard plus they become pliable and that sucks.. hope this helps...

          Keep a close eye well there in there!

            How did you get a blade in there to cut the glue?? That seems to be the big issue here. Very tight fit between the glass and metal, and the lip on the housing makes it difficult to fit anything between them.

              hmm, trying to remember...:roll:

              I think, like i was saying earlier, i had like 10 min sessions of heating the headlight at maybe around 325 degrees <--- double check this temp. and i kept trying to pry it and eventually it stretched but i still couldn't get it apart except by cutting it...

              Make sense? i wish i could physically help... lol
