Turn Signal/Hazards work 2-5 seconds then cut out

I have an 86 325es if that makes any difference. I'd been getting a fast turn signal on the left side recently but all the lights worked so I figured it was just a dirty connector or acting wonky and ignored it for the time being. Now, I get the fast flashing followed shortly by the left turn signal ceasing to function after a few seconds unless I turn them off and turn them back on. Hazards do the same thing but right turn signal is fine. I plan on replacing the bulbs and cleaning the connectors but was wondering if this is the relay going out or something else. I tried a search and didn't come up with anything similar so apologies if this is a stupid question. Thanks for any help.

Check the socket internal connections to see if the bulb is 'loose' in there, and if so, bend up the base contact to make it springier against the bulb. Bulb base should be silver (nickel) and not brass, look for / remove corrosion if there's a brass bulb in there.

Check front and rear, and check all the bulbs while you're at it.

Otherwise, if all is good, you may be looking for a new flasher relay soon. Mine failed intermittently for about 6 months before it just finally went south.
    Good luck!

I fiddled with the bulbs a bit and they seemed ok but I will double check the bases. I have new bulbs coming for that entire side but I'm thinking that the relay is likely going out. Once I've put new bulbs in if the problem persists I'll look into a new relay. Thanks for the tips!
