Those look nice. Car you see the difference in colour temp in person?
A little but it's not too bad. I'm actually going to be switching the 8000ks out for some 6000ks just because I want a little more output for the dark backroads around here.
So how badly do the 55w'ers blind oncoming traffic? I am on the fence whether to get 35w or 55w. I know that 35w will be brighter than stock and won't blind people as much but how bad are the 55w ones?
i could get pics but dont have any currently BUT, i have a set of 55 4500s in my bike and a good friend has 35 4500s in his bike. the difference in brightness is obvious the coloring is not "washed out" as stated before it is more blue while the 55s are more white. if you look on a color spectrum chart 4000ish is supposed to be white, not blue. blue tones shouldnt show until 6k+.
as far as brightness i can say they are ALMOST twice as bright. ill see about pics closer to the weekend.
if youre looking for more light output 55 watt 4500s are the brightest you can get at 3300 lumens. this is the only temp ill drive with as it gives cops less to freak out about (regarding coloring of the lights) and just has that output. and being out here in the NW it is needed.

you only blind traffic driving around with h4 style headlight buckets. if you have elipsoids and they are aimed proper there is no issue of oncoming traffic issues as the elipsoids have a "light cut off" where as not many others do.

Um, you just confirmed what I said and contradicted yourself! ;)
Yes the 35w 4500ks will be more blue then the 55w 4500k because the 55w ones are more "washed out" aka slightly less color tone compared to the 35w ones!

Correct! My elipsoids are slightly high and I've had a couple people flash me, but even then it's no big deal. As soon as the lower them a little, they won't bother anyone...
I have the 55w's 6ks wanted to get 5ks but I guess I miss clicked ? Just mounted them yesterday...i love it...but only thing I gotta say is..its BRIGHT and I wanted it to be a little crisper coming out of the headlamp...i think having the 55 makes it real bright coming out of the lamp...gotta go to a meeting right now, but if I got a night shot tonight I'll post.

i dont see it as contradicting myself as i understand that a true 4-4500 bulb should be white with no blue. there by there is nothing to wash out....a 35 watt kit does not get the same bulb to its full operating temp there by it doesnt achieve its full "color". but whatever.

55w 4500k has no blue to it. Just a pure white light.
Smonk, can you get pics of the bike's outputs side by side? I bought my HID's a few months back, 35w 6000k. They were cool at first, and lit everything up better than the sealed beams... BUT, I still don't think they're bright enough... I had read at the time there wasn't any real noticeable difference between the 55w ballasts and the 35w ballasts, but if buying the 55w ones will help me out, I'll swap em out and sell the 35w... I was on the verge of just ordering new bulbs from DDM (probably 4500, I don't want blue, I want a lit up road), but I'll wait till this goes a lil' further.
PM me for detailing services in the Longmont / Boulder Area in Colorado!

well i just up graded to the 55k with my newly replaced 5k bulbs. Big difference. maybe tomorrow i can put my 35w on one side and the 55w on the other with both 5k bulbs. The 55w is brighter by far. Its weird tho... b4 with the 35w the 5k's looked sorta purl with a grey look. now with the 55w they are super white. When looking at the lights they do however look blue'ish but in car they are fucking bright white. I might hook up the 6k's to see what those look like. Maybe have pics tomorrow
