Hella/Bosch Ellipsoid Smiley beam pattern concern

I have a cracked headlight on the E30 I just bough. I have seen plenty of members on this site with the upgraded lights. My question to you guys is how was the light output/beam pattern effected? Is it different from stock? I am wondering whether they use the same projector, or a different one? If so, does it have as nice a cut off, and beam pattern as the stock ones?

I searched but was unsuccessful. Thanks for posting those pics though. I think I like the USDM projectors better. I will be looking to pic up a used set. I dont feel like forking out that much dough for the brand new ones.
