    Taillights with extra wire

    Ok another question:

Since I bought my e30 the check panel "Brake Lights" light has always been on, fuses ok, all bulbs working fine, even put in different set of tails and still, its on

Any body have a suggestion on how to fix this? I can't seem to find anybody with the same problem unless Im not searching correctly.

My car has these wires hanging from the connector the tails connect to, any idea what it is? where it connects? might this be why the light is always on? Theres two of them, one hanging from each tail light

Any idea what they are or where they connect to?

    Thanks

The BRAKE warning is an issue on these cars and has been posted about for many years.

So yeah, your search ninja could use some work.

In the meantime, clean the contacts on the brake check relay and the contacts to the light panels themselves. The check relay is under the left trunkliner, just in front of the antenna, with the factory amp if you have one.

Those pigtails are for the rear side markers!

Get a can of electrical cleaner to clean the plugs. I use CRC brand, #23 I think.

You do know it is supposed to come on every time you start the car, right? It goes off when upi tap the brake pedal for the first time, kind of a brake light test.

Also, I believe I spy euro bumpers in your pic. That means those sidemarker wires are unused on your car.

Havent had a chance to clean the connections, Im gonna do it Sat or Sunday. I didn't know it was supposed to come one all the time but it stays on and thats my concern, I just press the check button after a min or two of driving to get the dash light to stop flashing.

Also Dave, you are correct, I realized that after they told me it was for the side markers, I have a euro bumper on the rear of the car. Ive only had the car for 3 months so I haven't done much too it. DBs on the front and Euro bumpers on the back but they're really banged up.
