    Is my fog light salvageable?

Trying to get everything working on my new to me E30 and only one of the fogs turns on. It had a small rock chip in the lens so figured the bulb was blown. Pulled it out and found this...

Replaced the bulb and that didn't work. Used some wire wool to knock off rust but that didn't help any. Plugged the other side in and it works so I know the wiring is fine so the problem has to be in the fog light itself. So, is this salvageable? I mean if I pull the lens off and use some rust dissolver or wire wool or should I just try and get a new one?
    Thanks
    Nick

Yikes. That's fairly far gone in the corrosion department. Your easiest and in my opinion best bet, is to replace it if you have the funds. Which side do you need? I might have a spare kicking around I'd let go for cheap (as in $20 + shipping)

sand it down, use a small wire brush, a sanding drum on a Dremel, whatever it takes to get it to clean metal again without removing too much metal from the important areas. Spread a layer of dielectric grease on it and it should be fine.

Are you getting power to the plug for the bulb? My guess is no.
Try plugging this housing in on the other side. This side may have a broken wire.
