Daytime running lights

I need to install daytime running lights on to my new e30 to pass a one time only inspection so I want it to be a temporary mod only.

I have euro ellips and I’m wondering if the city lights are bright enough to pass as daytime running lights? I haven’t installed them yet so I don’t know how bright they are.
Would it be difficult to wire the city lights to always be on when the car is running?

Really? they are making you do that? That sucks, my car doesn't have them and if they made me install them I would be very angry.

Everything after 1990 has to have them. It sucks but it shouldn't be a big deal if I just wire it up for a the inspection. That's why i'm trying to find out the most simple way of doing it.

The city lights should be bright enough, just wire them up to a switched lead. Very simple, very undo-able.

my city lights were wired up so that as long as the car's ignition is on, the lights are on.
