No brake lights, fuse 6 blowing

Just bought myself this car a few days ago, and the only complaints I have is the electrical problems. Im hoping some of you guys could help me out here, it would be much appreciated...

I don't have brake lights because there is a short and fuse 6 keeps blowing every time I turn the key over. I traced the wiring in the trunk (nothing I could see), under the car through the shift boot (nothing I could see). Where should I check next?

Front passenger side turn signal doesn't work. The running light works, But the turn signal doesn't and the back and inside it blinks very fast. Is there a problem with my ground wire or the connection?

Speedometer randomly stops working at times, but then comes back on a few minutes later. I have no idea what this could be.

Anyways I hope I can get these things sorted out, maybe with some of your help. One culprit to my problems may be the CRAPPY wiring job done to the aftermarket deck. Could this be causing me problems??

Nobody? The only suggestion i've heard for the brake lights is to put a bigger fuse in, but I know thats not good for the car. I have checked the wiring that runs by the diff, up the shift boot, in the trunk and cannot find any short there.

It is a terrible suggestion. Anyway, since the fuse pops as soon as you turn the key, your problem is confined to a pretty small area. You are looking for trouble between the brake pedal, map light mirror (if you have one), and the fuse box.

With that short of a run, following the wire is probably the easiest solution. There's probably only 3ft of wire you need to check.

Thank you sir so very much! I don't have maplights, so that should make it easier. So when I find some time, I'll just trace the wire from my brake pedal, through the firewall and by the fusebox
