Need a little help with wiring euro ellipsoids....

Hey kids. It's been a long time since I've posted in here. Long story short, I bought an e30 back in April. I did a good job at not modding the car since then until I recently came across a great set of euro ellipsoids for cheap and snagged them up.

Anyways, so I was working on installing them tonight. I cut the old connectors off. I crimped the brown wires together (ground) on all 4 connections. On both of the low beams, I crimped the yellow/blue wires together on the low beams. And I crimped the last remaining wire on the headlight side of the high beam to both of the blue/wht wires on the body side for the high beam.

One of the bulbs was bad, so I tossed it. I got both the high and low beams to work on the drivers side headlight, but nothing on the pass side. I figured that since I had triple-checked everything that maybe the other bulb was also bad. So a friend of mine gave me some ricer h1 bulbs to put in my high beams to hold me over. I put the good 'normal' h1 in the high beam into the low beam on the pass side, and put the ricey bulbs in the high beams. The pass side still doesn't work and now the drivers side high doesn't work.

I'm guessing that since I know the bulb for the pass low is good, that I have a bad connection. And I'll go as far to speculate that my ricey bulbs just might be bad too. Anyone have any suggestions, any opinions, anything?

I guess tomorrow I'll go buy some more H1's and reconnect everything. Hope it works. :?

Okay, well I got everything working (including city lights) except for the pass side high beam. I swapped bulbs, soldered connections and I still can't figure it out.

Can I put the drivers side on the pass side? If so, maybe I'll do that then get the intake vent thing. That way no one will know.

Don't do RAM air for 2 reasons. 1st - It does nothing. 2nd - You should do this correctly and make everything work.

Sorry, I can't help you make it work, but seriously keep working at it and you will figure it out sooner or later.

I have a question simmilar to 94is's. I just put us ellips in my 91' 318is and i wired everything up. I wired the browns to the browns and the high beams both had two white w/ blue and i soldered those together. On the lows i only soldered the two wires (brown and other one, not the white w/ blue) and left the white w/ blue alone. When the lows were on the highs were off (good) bu twhen i turned on the highs the high would be on but no more lows (bad). SO i went back and soldered the other wire to the lows. This blew the low fuses but when the highs were on the lows and highs turned on. So do you think i need higher than the 7.5amp fuse in the lows or will that blow the bulbs? I want all four of the lights to be on when i turn on the highs.

I know this has been discussed before but i can't find anything for the life of me.

            Thanks for any help,
            Charlie

Each bulb just needs the ground wire and power wire. DO NOT connect the extra wire from the high beam to the low beam....

The extra wire from the high beam USED TO power the second filament built into the sealed-beam style low beam (3rd connector on that unit) that you probably used to have. When you flick the high beam lever ON, the first filament on the low beam would cut out, and the second filament would get its power from the high beam wire that it was tapped into.... so both the high beam bulb and the second filament on the low beams were running of the same power wire.

The fix... you have to make a lil jumper wire between two of the posts on your headlight relays. Bonus: fogs stay on... well, I like 6 lights on at once, hehe. Sorry I don't have the link to which posts to jump. PM me and maybe I can take a pic of my relays for you if you need.

got you PM today... here you go...

Solder a piece of wire, like 16 guage or so, between the lowest pins on those two relays (as pointed to in the pic).

Hope that helps. I tried SEARCHING but the link that is usually posted to help out with this wiring is down.
