headlamps on only in "flash" position

This is for the chump car racer build, so keep that in mind when answering. especially since the race is this weekend.... I either need a real solution OR a quick fix that will get us through the night portion of the race.

The car - 1987 es chassis with stock wiring harness and stock headlights. As much of the components/excess wiring has been removed to save weight. Headlamp switch/dimmer is installed, untouched. High/low beam stalk is installed (I have 2, issue is the same with both)

The issue - headlights only come on when the headlamp stalk is pulled into the 'flash' position - no high beams or low beams in 'low' position or 'high' position on stalk. New high beams, known good low beams, known good low and high relays (checked them on a second car) and fuses. parking lights and turn signals work, dash lights/dimmer work. The headlamps all worked when I stopped driving the car and started the conversion to race car. Yesterday was the first time I powered up the lights (hell, why wouldn't they work? car has sat in the garage for the last 6 months...) so I just found the issue.

What should I be looking for? Is this the dreaded low beam check relay thing (based on wiring diagram, I'm concerned this is it...)? Is there something simple that I might be missing like a relay under the dash I may have accidentally removed? Or a ground I unhooked? (a picture of the location would help a TON)?

Your ideas and potential fixes will be greatly appreciated! If it could be the check relay thing, is there a fix/work-around other than replacing the fuse box (which I do not have a spare of....) - reminder, the race is this weekend, Oct 8 with tech inspection Oct 7th...

Having to hold the flasher switch for the entire 2 hour driving stints will suck...
