Turn Indicators '86 325ES US to Euro Conversion Help

    Gents,

I have researched the entire site and a few other forums on the web in order to seek resolution on the "best" way forward with regard to turn indicators/parking lights for my project--MTI/Euro Conversion.

The most in depth thread I found is here: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...al#post1087477

I would like to have the turn indicators (Euro) able to execute the following:
    1) Blink with parking lights/lights off (turn signal selected)
    2) Blink with parking lights on (turn signal selected)
    3) Illuminate with parking lights on (no turn signal selected)
    4) Illuminate with lights on (no turn signal selected)

On another site, one guy suggested using a dual filament bulb in the Euro turn indicator housing, which required a small bit of modification to the Euro turn signal housing in order to make a home for the bulb, and then a simple t-tap into the US turn signal wires with the homeless parking light wire--no pics or explicit DIY. Conversely, the link above from r3v speaks of using a diode and relay combo to accomplish this, but it lost me at diode...

Thank you in advance for the assistance. I am picking up my Cinnabar '86 e30 Thursday evening from the body shop--can't wait to post before and after pics... Solid car.

    V/R,

    Gents,

Found this link on another forum, and although it pertains to the E21 specifically, it might still have some merit to the exact issue listed above in order to "formalize" a cleaner DIY:

Well, if you don't mind your car looking like a 90s GM product, you can use the single filament to accomplish your goals.

Simply wire the parking light +ve wire to the brown wire coming out of the euro light plug. (replacing the ground)

Your parking lights will be at full bulb intensity though, like the aforementioned GM DRLs

That's an awesome idea... I hadn't thought of that. Because one of Levent's mechanics figured out a workaround on another dude's car set up like mine, and mine has to go in for a service anyway, I am going to let his fifty pound heads clean up this project and then also fix the wiring for the Euro Fog Lights in the MT1. Right now, the side marker was simply spliced into the parking lights (done yesterday). The effect of that decision is turn signal works in all headlight switch positions (blinking indicators), however, the signal indicators DO NOT illuminate in any switch position (without turn signal selected). Thanks for the feedback.

After further inspection, the side marker lights, +ve & grnd, were not touched. Therefore, gonna try the GM DRL setup... More to follow.

I am having an issue with my wiring. 87 vert. I spliced the brn/blue and blk wire on one side and brn/blue and red wire on the other. The front turn signals flashed but fast. So then I spliced into those same wires for turn signals and the passenger light flickers (fast) and driverside does not work. What went wrong?
