US ellipsoids- Hi and low can't be on at same time

I just bought a set of US ellipsoids and am swapping them with my sealed beams. After wiring in the pigtails and making sure I have the correct bulbs, I tested them. Hi and low both work, the problem being I can't have them on at the same time. Turn my low on and it works, but when I turn the hi on the low turns off. Turn low on and hi turns off, etc.

Why is this, or is that supposed to happen with ellipsoids? (which I doubt)

The cars are wired different I do believe. What bulb is in the low beam slot?

The sealed beams had two filaments on the low beam bulb. When you put on the highs the main filament would turn off, the second would turn on. To fix your issue, you have to put a jumper wire in the fusebox of the car between pin 30 on the high beam relay and pin 30 on the low beam relay. (Hopefully my memory is right, I think it's 30)

Ya that's what I was told, was to put a jumper between pin 30 and 87

Yup lows are supposed to shut off when the highs come on. My car was 'fixed' so that all 4 come on before I bought it, love how well the highs work.

I just did a jumper between pins 30 and 30 on both relays. Not the most ideal setup but definitely the easiest.
