Anyone have a quality source for resilvering in the US?

Looking to have my ellipsoids re-silvered, as I'm sure age and hot bulbs have taken their toll over the years.

Does anyone have any positive experiences with a company here in the US?

This is the only place i have seen advertise resilvering headlights and the rest of the work they do is top notch so i would assume the resilvering would be top notch as well.

I believe the issue is that Steve's does metal re-silvering.
I was under the impression the actual reflector in the E30 ellipsoid is plastic as far as I know?

Yes they are plastic. Have you tried placing an order with the dealer? This for the M? Why not text Levent maybe he has some decent used ones. I have a bunch of mismatch ones but I know you'd rather have a set of clean all matching units.

I bought a bunch of smoked DE's about 4 years ago and have them stashed away in the basement.

For that amount of effort, get a set of FX-R or TSX projectors retrofitted. You'll be a LOT happier with the outcome.

It appears the ellipsoid only comes as a full assembly, sans outer lens/glass. These retail at almost $300/ea, and for that price I could just about buy a brand new set of Hella's.

I haven't really wanted to buy another used set, as they are all getting "old" and the reflectors could all be of dubious quality. I may just convert back to H1/H1 setups, and forget about ellipsoids...

I have yet to see a truly clean and not hacked-together/epoxy sealed setup for utilizing this setup. If there is a clean way of doing it, I would be very interested!!

Are you talking about the backside or frontside looking hacked up?

That is the closest thing I've seen to a well engineered/clean install... but he's not done yet.

I was under the impression only metal headlights were silvered ?

i know in the do it yourself smoked headlight threads there are both metal and plastic reflectors...

I would guess the plastic reflectors are just plastic chromed which plenty of shops that can do.
