Which Light best for HID Retrofit?

I am new to the E30 world :o and have a question of lighting. My E30 currently has the stock "seal beam" (I think that is what those call here) and am thinking to retrofit it to HID, what is my best option?

    Seal beam
    Smileys
    Ellipsoids

Anyone has HID on all three?

    Thanks

Smileys or Ellips will work fine.

apparently Hids work best on Euro smiles because of the stronger cutoff then US ellipsoids, but both work well no go on sealed beams

Thanks, are they easy to install? Where to get the euro version? Is it Hella Euro version?

I had both ellipsoids with HID's and these. The Hella H4's were brighter to me. And a huge improvement over stock. And you may get more answers by checking out the lighting forum here.

Not true. The Euro's dont have clear lens. The US ellips however have clear lenes for a sharper cut off. Id personally recommend US's for a pnp hid kit. Its a better projector.

            Bosch euros

            US Ellips

If you really wanted to do good. You could mod the cutoff in the us. Also Ive heard you can install the US hella shield/lens combo into the hella euros. So then you have best of both.

I have some hella h4/h1 reps. One is missing a highbeam lens and Highbeam bulbs.
