    Major headlight problem.

    Hello,

I have been slowly recovering a 1990 325i. You guys have been very helpful along the way, I am very stumped on some wiring and was hoping for help once again.

I have taken many pictures of what is wrong, the previous owner installed a HID kit on my car, and in doing so some how the high beams have no wires running to them.

    Here are the pictures.

Picture 1 shows the high beam bulb.
Picture 2 shows the high beam and low beam rear.
Pictures 3 & 4 show the plug that connects to the HID harness.
Pictures 5 & 6 show the plug that does not plug in anywhere.
Picture 7 shows the mess of wires.

How do I get a high beam??

What are those wires tucked up in the corner of pic 2?

You are looking for a white wire with a tracer, and a brown wire.

since you are looking for the high beam wires i assume the lows work correctly?

i went out and took a quick picture of what my wires look like. my car is a 1989 325i and headlights are euro hella smilies.

the white and brown wires that Dave has mentioned can be seen connected to the highbeam.

look around for the white and brown wires, its possible that they can be wrapped up in tape somewhere in that area.

furthermore, you mentioned that the connector in picture 5 does not go anywhere. take a multimeter, set it to voltage mode, and plug into the pins in the connector.

then turn on your lights and determine what setting (low, high, etc.) gives you a voltage reading in the multimeter. if you get a voltage reading when you turn on your highbeams, you now know what connector/wires are the highbeam ones. you can do this method for any wires you find.

Thank you guys, sadly I am back at school for awhile so I don't have much access to tools, so I will be with high beams for awhile longer. If anyone else has something for me to try when I try all the above that would be good to, cant ever have enough options to fix something.
