    Where to find headlight parts.

    Hey guys,

So I just bought some used smilies on ebay and had them shipped over from Germany. They're pretty dang near perfect, the only thing I've found wrong with them is that theres a small connect piece thats broken.

Its the connection that comes off of the vertical aim control unit, so its a little different than usual headlight adjustment connectors.

Anyone know where I can find this piece? I'd like to try and find it before I try to fab something up.

Your adjuster looks rather corroded, you may want to just replace it along with any others that are hard to turn. You have the hydraulic (pneumatic?) vertical adjusters that are meant to be controlled from within the cabin but they can be replaced with the regular adjusting screws like the horizontal ones (63121385397) and that type of socket (63121378369).

Google those part numbers or go to the dealer if you want new ones, or search the forums/hit the junkyards if you want lights for parts.

I'd like to try and keep the hydraulic adjusters if at all possible (I completely understand that they may be hard to come by). Is it possible to use the socket types you listed with hydraulic adjusters?

      And thanks for the help.

I'm not sure, but IIRC the socket that I posted the part number for holds the ball part of the screw further forward into the bracket. Depending on the range of adjustment that could be too far and you wouldn't be able to adjust them properly. I assume this is the case otherwise BMW wouldn't have a different part for it.

Keeping the hydraulic adjusters is really pointless unless you have the complete system (and talk about hard to come by). You can always hang onto them for the future, they take about 20 seconds to pop off. Honestly I'm surprised that yours aren't seized looking at how corroded everything else is.

Regardless, I think I may have found the part number (63121386616) here:

Look at the alternate for #11.

Apparently I'm mentally challenged as I still haven't figured this out. So today I finally pulled off the hydraulic/pneumatic adjusters and I'm not sure the normal adjusters will work....

So just the normal adjusters work in this? The hole seems wayyyy too big.

          Help anyone?!?

The bracket with the "way too big" hole isn't necessary and should come off, too. I don't remember what the other side looks like but you probably just pinch the little connectors to pull it off.

I can't believe it took me this long to figure out what you were saying....

              Thanks man!
