    Lights toggle switch wiring

I'm attempting to wire in a toggle switch for the lights. I hooked up a constant hot to the switch and the rest of the wires to the other side of the switch. Here is my problem:

Key off - all lights turn on with the switch
Key in accessory - all lights turn on with the switch
key in run - switch on - running lights/interior lights are on, headlights are off
key in run - switch off - headlights are on, running/interior lights are off

If I remove the wire for the relay coming from the ignition input will the lights work? If I'm reading the diagram correctly the relay will still have power and switch. Essentially converting it from a 5 prong relay to 4 prong.
And will I have to remove it from the highbeam relay as well?

In case anyone searches this in the future:

In order to retain the stock wiring harness, there needs to be two either two switches or possibly a switch with 3 terminals (hot, ground, closed)

The switch wire going to the relay must be grounded on the other side of the switch in order for the relay to function properly. I made it a lot harder than it was by not incorporating a ground.
