Why is this ellipsoid housing black vs the usual white?

Picked these up yesterday and didn't notice until I got home, there are some small differences other than just the color. Look the same from the front. The drivers side is the black one.

Hella vs bosch? production change? I really don't know, just those two things came to mind, need to check a few I have at home.

Both pictured came off the same car, want to use squaredmotorwerks brackets and don't want to run into issues. Both lenses say Hella.

I don't think E34 has anything to do with it. It's more likely that one side was replaced at some point.

No difference in output.
